I’m Basem Rajjoub, a PhD researcher at the Institut für Windenergiesysteme (IWES), Leibniz Universität Hannover. My work sits at the intersection of composite micromechanics, structural finite element methods, and probabilistic reliability — applied to wind turbine rotor blades.
Research
My PhD focuses on multiscale probabilistic fatigue assessment of composite wind turbine blades. The core idea is to build a physics-based chain from the fiber-matrix microstructure up to blade-level reliability, replacing the empirical safety factors in current design standards with uncertainty-aware predictions grounded in material science.
This spans microstructure generation, analytical homogenization, voxel-based cross-section analysis, and probabilistic reliability methods.
